Discussion and Performance: Shakespeare and Verdi’s Macbeth
Great Hall at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art

Join us at the Cooper Union for an evening of Shakespearean comparison. Director Louisa Proske and James Shapiro, the Public Theater’s Shakespeare Scholar in Residence and Professor Emeritus of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, discuss the parallels between the original text and Verdi’s opera. The event will also include performances of selections from the opera by members of the cast alongside excerpts from the play. This program is co-presented by the Metropolitan Opera and the Cooper Union’s Gardiner Foundation Great Hall Forum in collaboration with the Public Theater. Free; Registration is required. Ticket does not guarantee entry as this is a first-come-first-served event.
